The sparkle of Russian diamonds has attracted the attention of Western powers which want to term them conflict diamonds or blood diamonds. Blood diamonds are rough diamonds used by rebel movements or their allies to finance conflict aimed at undermining legitimate governments. Ukraine is accusing Russia of funding its war from the revenue of these diamonds which Russia denies.
